The Human in Me

The Human in Mefeatured

In the presence of my soul I look up to the sky,
And I question the chaos in a reason of why.
The world seems to view us in such staggered lines,
Its unkindness in horrors and its means to confine.
A judgement and battle of one’s blinded light,
In mental confusion that pillage and fights.

The human in me can see but only one truth,
That the lines in our eyes are all hidden in youth.
There is no difference between the tints in our skin,
Only the same goals, to seek peace and to win.
Who are we to choose which skin tone is right,
When the heart deep within beams brighter in sight.

Or the choice of whom to love in passionate ways,
A matching of two souls whose lights shines in rays.
What does it matter if we’re gay or we’re bi,
Transgender or questioning, it’s all a piece of the pie.
A heart still has love no matter the cost,
To destroy this free will, means all will be lost.

And if there was question in which sex that I chose,
To be a woman or man – I’d still have ten toes.
My physical appearance has nothing to prove,
But you’d pay me in indifference and expect me to move.
The kitchen should be my solace and where I should stay,
God gave us all two hands and your food you can weigh.

Tough is the disabled who fights with such strength,
To build a new world that’s normal at length.
A personal journey and the will to fit in,
With hopes of belonging from the kindness of kin.
And the perceptions that still chooses to see,
All that is wrong with both you and with me.

A world full of prejudice and I long to let go,
And move away from the destruction and fields that don’t grow.
These seeds which are planted – they bare no fruit,
Are learned patterns of thought that seem to take root.
And yet there are those, who feel these perceptions are true,
Who cling to the darkness and all it ensues.

We all want justice when the weight’s hard to bear,
For others to show bouts of benevolence and care.
But what are we doing to change all these views?
Are you looking at both sides and walking in their shoes?
The kindness that’s there and you so readily seek,
Should be given in return before you’re quick to speak.

With Light & Love ♥
