The Midnight Monsterfeatured
In the silence of the night, in a dark and dreary place,
His lies they seem to come alive to paint pictures of his face.
An outline of a monster with a tall and twisted frame,
Whose footsteps seem to leave a mark, but I’d dare not say his name.
My breath it quickens as I tremble and cry as I shed my tears,
The monster deep within his soul it always lingers near.
My thoughts they race in panic as I’ve got to soon escape,
For he will find me in the night and drag my soul agape.
I’ll head right through the forest, towards the river, and the fields,
To catch the train at midnight and use the safety that it yields.
My bow and arrow will go with me, as I lace up head to toe,
A cape that hides my secrets with surprises against my foe.
As I run right through the forest with danger on my heels,
I’m headed towards the river with hopes of time left here to steal.
His laughter fills the air around and I’m quick to fill with dread,
Haunting every path I take until I’m his there left to shred.
(HIM)
You think you’ve won this battle? That you’re now finally free?
You can run as fast as you can, but you’ll never outlast me.
Temptation is a demon and I will fight you as you go,
For I fester in your mind and you can’t forget me though.
Flying towards my heart as his knives they mean to aim,
And I refuse to let them hit me and play this devil’s game.
Lightly on my toes I stop and turn to take my stance,
And I light his world on fire as my arrows take their chance.
Stinging from the blow while one it strikes and makes him bleed,
As he winces to the ground beneath, I grin as I take my leave.
Running through the open field while the stars shine bold and bright,
Cursing through the chaos, as the train is close in sight.
Rolling on the train tracks with its conductor racing by,
A railroad car door left a jar and it is meant for only I.
Swiftly keeping pace while jumping in as I reach and leap,
Up against the train car door and in my legs I sweep.
I feel a soreness in my side, as blood is seeping from a gash,
The world around turns blurry but in the field I see light flash.
His figure limps upon the bank and meets me at my gaze,
We stare at one another in the dark for what feels like days.
(HER)
You will always hunt for me, because you’re twisted to the core,
For I have bled a thousand days, but you will bleed for more.
Even in the darkness, all-consuming is your might,
But the gift of sweet forgiveness lingers just beyond the light.
With Light & Love,
